Have you ever called support desk with a seemingly easy question and you hoped to get the answer on the spot but instead someone took a message and offered you a call back? Have you ever been told that your issue needs to be escalated and it might take a week or two before it is resolved? Have you ever been on a support call queue listening to "Your number in the queue is...."? I can go on forever, and I know you believe me I can. Throughout the years I have experienced so many frustrations while on the phone or live chats with different support desks and to this day some don't fail to surprise me with a new answer!
Many times I have tried to search Google, Ask, MSN and so forth for an answer to some of my support questions, and almost never found an answer. The time wasted searching on the web and sitting on a call with support desk is the time I could have used to find more productive ways to improve on our business, and most importantly a time that I could spend with a user and help him/her instead of hearing "I am not sure what I did, but it is not working and my boss needs this today....".
